It is also possible to visit the vineyards by appointment and to see our four to sixty-year-old vines personally.
Premium Pelješac Wines
The Pelješac peninsula – A place where the sun, sea and stone create the perfect home for Plavac Mali, an autochthonous Dalmatian grape sort which takes the best out of the “barren soil” to give us the “nectar of the gods”. Not far away from Europe`s longest defensive walls in Ston lies a village called Ponikve – home to the Marlais family, of French origin. Our ancestors settled in Pelješac in the 17th century and brought with them the knowledge that every Frenchman possesses (making great wine). The winery Marlais is located near the old Napoleon road built in the early 19th century. Pelješac wine is renowned throughout the world as high-quality product. Savor the autochthonous Dalmatian grape sorts Plavac Mali, Rukatac, Pošip, and Dubrovnik Malvasia from which our wines are made.
Virtual Walk
Our vineyards
The process of Pelješac wine production starts in our family`s vineyards, located at three different sites on the southern slopes of the peninsula, known for their abundant insolation. The pruning of the surrounding lush woods creates fertile sandy soil, perfect for planting vines. The family also builds drywalls to stop the soil erosion resulting from heavy rainfall and water flows. We produce 15 – 20 thousand bottles and about 10 thousand litres of unbottled wine per year. Our family vineyards consist of 23,000 grapevines distributed across three hectares of land. The tillage is manual, without the possibility of using machines, due to the present gravel and the steep ground.

Our Story
The family tradition in Pelješac wine production has been in Marlais family for seven generations now. It has been a long time since the first vines were planted, which we still cultivate today. We greet our guests with a warm personal approach in our winery. We gladly tell them about the whole winemaking process and everything related to our wines. We truly enjoy showing each guest who tastes our wine how much love and effort we have invested to achieve what we have today.
The traditional way of cultivating the land and wine production is woven into every drop of our wine. From the very beginning to the end all family members follow the process and tradition of wine production as we were taught by our ancestors.
